Description

Cymbopogon nardus is a perennial, aromatic grass with numerous erect culms arising from a short, oblique, ring-shaped, sparingly branched rhizome. The leaves are in sheaths, glabous, smooth and striated.

Usage

The essential oil from C. nardus has been traditionally used as mosquito repellent, household fumigant, soaps and cosmetics (Nakahara et al. 2003).
